IELTS with the British Council just got better! Results typically in 1-5 days with IELTS on computer

We are pleased to announce that from 9 March 2025 all IELTS tests will be delivered on computer only, providing a faster, more efficient, and streamlined testing experience for test takers.

 

IELTS on Paper and IELTS on Computer have the same test format, questions, scoring. IELTS on Computer also offers significant benefits to test takers at no additional cost: 

  • Faster results: Receive your results in 1-3 days
  • Shorter booking period: Booking options available as late as 2-3 days before registration closes
  • More test dates: Choose from more days throughout the week.
  • One Skill Retake, which is only available with IELTS on Computer, allows you to retake just one part of the test – Listening, Speaking, Reading or Writing

We will gradually be phasing out IELTS on Paper, so you will begin to see fewer test dates available with enhanced capacity. Register early to secure your seat.

Where can you take IELTS in Pakistan?

We offer a range of convenient IELTS dates in Pakistan in 18 official IELTS test centre locations across the country. You can choose to take your IELTS test on paper or on a computer. Whichever you prefer, you will need to come to a test centre to sit your test. Find out more

The British Council Pakistan offers IELTS on computer tests in 7 locations: Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Multan and Sukkur with up to ten test dates per month.

International payments

As per section 236Y (Income Tax Ordinance, 2001), all international transactions made via credit or debit card are subject to advance tax deduction by the bank at rates 1% for filers and 3% for non-filers.

Candidates who choose to pay online via credit / debit card for exams and / or to avail other related services with British Council Pakistan should be aware of the above applicable tax, as the British Council transactions settlement process is executed through an international merchant / banking company.

Kindly note that candidates applying for exam refund under British Council refund policy, will not be refunded the advance tax amount as deducted by the bank.

IELTS test schedule in Pakistan

How does the IELTS test schedule work? Your Listening, Reading, and Writing sections of the IELTS test will be completed on the same day with no break in between. All sessions allow social distancing. Morning sessions are usually between 9.00 am and 12.00 pm. Afternoon sessions are usually between 1.00 pm and 4.00 pm.

If you take IELTS on paper, your Speaking test will take place on a different day to the other sections of the test, in a 7-day window before or after the main test day. You will receive an email confirming your Speaking test date 48 hours in advance.

You can choose your Speaking test slot whether you take IELTS on a computer or IELTS on paper. If we need to change your IELTS Speaking slot due to unforeseen circumstances or public safety concerns, we will notify you by email or phone.
