When will I get my IELTS exam results?

You won’t have to wait long for your IELTS exam results. Depending on which IELTS test you have taken, you will get your results as shown below:

When will I get my online IELTS test results ?

You can access your IELTS test results online within 24 to 48 hours after completing the test on computer. For IELTS on a computer, an electronic Test Report Form (ETRF) will be available for download from Test Taker portal which can serve as official confirmation of your performance.

You may print the ETRF to share with organizations you are applying to or send it via email. Additionally, results can be sent directly to organizations through the Test Taker portal.

When will I get a physical copy of my IELTS test results ?

While you can view your IELTS results online, many test takers prefer a physical copy of their results. For IELTS on Computer the Test Report Form (TRF), which includes your IELTS band scores, will only be dispatched upon request.

Please allow at least 7 working days for delivery. In the event of a failed delivery, we will contact you to confirm or correct your address and resend the TRF within the same timeframe.

Important Notes:

IELTS results will not be disclosed over the phone or through email.

How do the institutions I'm applying to get my IELTS Test Results?

We will send your IELTS test results and Test Report Form (TRF) directly to the institutions you’re applying to.

Institutions on STED list:

Institutions listed in the STED (Secure Test Results Delivery) system will receive an online notification. You can provide the required details via the Test Taker Portal during registration.

Institutions NOT on STED list:

If the institution requires a hard copy of the TRF, you can request this through the Additional Test Report Form (ATRF) service. Additional charges may apply.

For ATRF requests, the British Council will send an official copy of your TRF directly to the specified institution (e.g., universities, immigration offices).

Can I get additional copies of my IELTS results?

Additional Test Result Forms (TRFs) are available to any institution upon request. You have to pay a fee mentioned as in IELTS Pricing policy document available in the download section below, and your IELTS results are only available for up to two years after the date of registration. If a courier service is needed this may also incur additional costs.

You will need to provide the institution’s address and fill in the Application for Additional Test Report Form. We then send the TRF directly to the institution.

An additional TRF takes around 10 days to be processed.

In addition to this, Candidates may request up to two additional TRFs under conditions such as damage or loss. ATRF fee would be applicable in that case, but no reason or evidence for loss or damage needs to be submitted by the candidate.

What do my IELTS test results score mean?

You will be awarded an IELTS band score from 0-9 for each test section, which reflects your proficiency in English.

Your Test Results Form (TRF) shows an individual score for each of the four skills: so you get an IELTS Reading score, IELTS Listening score, IELTS Writing and IELTS Speaking score, as well as an overall IELTS band score. You can score whole band scores (for example 5.0, 6.0, 7.0) or half band scores (e.g. 5.5, 6.5, 7.5) in each section of the test.

How to get your IELTS test re-marked?

If you did not receive the IELTS band score you expected, you can apply for your test to be re-marked. This is called an Enquiry on Results (EOR). You can choose which test sections you want to be re-marked and will need to request from the Test Taker portal. You need to apply for a re-marking no later than six weeks after the test date.

Your fee will be refunded if your score is increased for any section of the test.

You can Pay for your EOR in the following ways:

As a most economical way, you can pay by interbank transfer (IBFT) through Online banking or ATM. Find out the payment process details here.
You can pay by bank draft (made payable to ‘British Council Pakistan’). Bank Drafts should be sent to our office locations
You can deposit cash at your local Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) / Muslim Commercial Bank (MCB). Use our bank details to make the payment

You need to apply for a re-marking no later than six weeks after the test date.

The outcome of an Enquiry on Results can become available on the same day as your application and up to 21 days after your application. The time it takes depends on several factors, including the number of sections you have asked us to re-mark. If you have not received a response after 21 days, please contact your test center or reach out to us at info@britishcouncil.org.pk or 0800-22000.

It is not possible to have qualitative feedback on the test or see the test.

There are no restrictions on re-taking IELTS. You can book a test as soon as you feel you are ready to do so.

If I am not happy with my IELTS test results, can I choose a specific section(s) of the test to be remarked?

If you are not happy with your IELTS results, you can apply for an enquiry on result where your test will be remarked by a senior IELTS examiner. You can choose which test sections you want to be re-marked (Reading, Writing, Listening, or Speaking) or can request a remark for the whole test no later than six weeks after the test date.

Can my scores go down when I request a remarking?

Your IELTS band score does not go down from a remark. So, it will either remain unchanged or increase.

How soon after my test can I apply for the remarking?

You can apply for a re-marking no later than six weeks after the test date. You will not be able to apply for EOR after six weeks have passed.

When will I get the outcome of my IELTS remarking request?

Result will normally be available on the same day to 21 days, depending on several factors including the number of sections requested for remark.

If I haven’t received any response after 28 days of my IELTS remarking request, what should I do?

If you have not received a response after 28 days, please email us at info@britishcouncil.org.pk with the ticket number.

When will I get my IELTS results?

· If you have taken the computer-based IELTS test, you will be able to view your IELTS results after 24 to 48 hours from the test date.

We will not send hard copy of your IELTS band score in the Test Report Form (TRF) for a computer-delivered test until requested. Please allow at least 7 working days for the delivery. 

IELTS results will not be disclosed over the phone or through email.

How long are my IELTS results valid for?

Your IELTS test results remains valid for a period of 2 years

My IELTS Results have been released but I have not received my Test Report Form (TRF) after request. What should I do?

If your IELTS test results have been released, you will receive the TRF at your registered address within 7 working days, provided it was a complete & local courier accessible address. In case you have not received it, please write to us at info@britishcouncil.org.pk mentioning your IELTS registration number.

How many test report forms (TRFs) am I entitled to?

You are entitled to five free additional copies of your TRF which can be sent directly to receiving organizations (viz. universities, immigration offices, etc) you are applying to.

How can I send my IELTS band score to the Universities I am applying to?

We can send up to five free additional copies of your TRF directly to receiving organizations (viz. universities, immigration offices, etc) you are applying to. If you would like us to do this, please include the relevant addresses when you book your test. These free TRF copies will be sent to the receiving organizations (RO) in 7 working days after the result declaration date and you will be notified via an SMS. Can I apply for the replacement of the Test Report Form (TRF)?

Candidates are entitled to only one copy of the Test Report Form. You can avail another copy of the TRF if you have applied for Canadian Immigration and Citizenship and can provide us with the relevant documents. Please email your request with relevant documents at info@britishcouncil.org.pk

Can I get another copy of my IELTS results?

You can request for up-to 5 additional copies of your IELTS results. However, copies of your original valid IELTS results can be sent to recognizing international agencies/organizations for appropriate purposes against charges mentioned in IELTS Pricing policy document available in the download section below.

What if I lose my Test Report Form?

IELTS Test Report Forms are valid for two years. Please email your request with the relevant documents (copy of original scorecard (if available) and copy of your ID Document (Passport/CNIC used at the time of registration) at info@britishcouncil.org.pk

How are the tests marked?

IELTS uses a 9-band scoring system to measure and report test scores in a consistent manner. You receive individual IELTS band scores for Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, and an Overall Band Score on a band scale from one to nine. How can I check my IELTS test results online?

You can log in to the Test TakerPortal to preview your IELTS results. IELTS Results remain online for 28 days but should not be used as an official confirmation of your performance.

If you have taken IELTS on a computer, you will be able to preview your results after 24 to 48 hours from the test date.

How do I request for IELTS remarking – Enquiry on Result (EOR)?

What is the Fee for Enquiry on Result?
