Formed in 2000, IRC explores community mobilisation and dialogue using tools such as interactive theatre, videos, citizen journalism, documentary filmmaking, puppet shows, radio campaigns, university training, and social media. IRC’s further advocacy efforts include the annual Theater of the Oppressed Festival, Vasakh documentary film festival, and Maati TV, Pakistan’s first official web TV.
About Maati TV:
Maati TV is Pakistan’s first web-based interactive video platform to create advocacy and awareness on climate justice, equal citizenship, cultural diversity, and peacebuilding themes. It is a product of the Interactive Resource Centre (IRC), an info media organisation that uses art-based development tools to create self-empowerment opportunities for youth and marginalised communities. Maati employs various digital and on-ground storytelling tools to create safe spaces for critical discourse among the Pakistani youth. These include but are not limited to podcasts, explainer videos, interactive theatre, citizen journalism, community events, capacity-building workshops, and awareness campaigns.
